Care
SUGGESTED CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Sport Obermeyer takes pride in manufacturing products that can be cared for easily. All garments include a care/cleaning instruction tag on the inside of the garment.
For best results for your specific garment make sure you carefully read and follow the instructions on this tag.
ALWAYS REMOVE FAUX FUR
LAUNDERING YOUR GARMENT
• Excessive washing causes clothing to wear out faster, so wearing a garment multiple times before washing extends the life of the garment
Before washing
• Before washing, pre-clean soiled areas by blotting or sponging any stain
• Turn garment inside out if suggested on the care tag
• Zip all pockets and attach all velcro closures
• Remove any faux fur if applicable
• Separate wash load by color
Washing
• Follow instructions on care tag
• Wash in cool water
• Wash on gentle cycle or handwash cycle
• Use mild detergent sparingly, we suggest Nikwax or Dreft White (liquid detergents may leave residue and diminish technical coating)
• DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENERS OR BLEACH the strong chemicals can breakdown the waterproofing elements
• Rinse very thoroughly…or better yet, send your garment through the rinse cycle twice.
• Gently squeeze the excess water from your garment (do not wring dry, technical fabric coatings can become separated
Drying
• Follow instructions on care tag
• For best results - line dry garment
• If using a dryer - dry on gentle cycle, lowest heat (technical fabrics can be damaged by heat)
• DO NOT hang the garment over a heat source (technical fabrics can be damaged by heat)
DOWN-FILLED GARMENTS
If you feel more comfortable bringing your garment to a professional cleaner, make sure that the company you choose specializes in down products
Before washing
• Before washing, pre-clean soiled areas by blotting or sponging any stain
• Turn garment inside out if suggested on the care tag
• Zip all pockets and attach all velcro closures
• Remove any faux fur if applicable
• Separate wash load by color
Washing

• Dry on low to no heat, this may take a few cycles (high heat can damage the feathers or the fabric
• Place a couple of clean tennis balls or a clean tennis shoe in with the garment. This helps “re-fluff” the down.
GLOVES AND MITTENS
5 fingers can be challenging when washing your gloves.
• Gently spot-clean the surface of your gloves
• Handwash the gloves in cool water with mild detergent and a very soft sponge, keeping one hand inside to preserve the shape.
• Rinse twice to remove all residue.
• With hand still in glove, gently squeeze water from gloves, then hang to dry.
• To reduce soil accumulation inside your gloves, always wash hands prior to wearing.
• To refresh the inside of your gloves, try spraying a light mist of Fabreze Unscented Fabric Refresher (or other fabric refresher) in each glove finger.
FAUX FUR TRIM
For philosophical reasons, we have chosen to produce our garments using only artificial fur. Our faux fur is high quality and provides the same performance and feel of real fur. For cleaning purposes, the faux-fur trim on your Obermeyer garment should be removed and dry-cleaned. If the faux-fur trim cannot be removed from the garment, we recommend having the entire garment dry-cleaned.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Top-loading washers can sometimes snag and rip gear, thus front-loading machines are recommended for garment care of Obermeyer product
When storing your garment for the next season make sure the garment is dry – store in a clean dust-free dry environment
Do not iron your garment – it may melt the melt the fabric coating
Keep in mind that our garments are coated for water repellency – for best results soak the item for an hour or more to allow the water to permeate the coating before you start your spot cleaning
