Teen Boys Snow Jackets

For over 75 years, Obermeyer has been making ski apparel for young riders that performs on real mountain days: warm, mobile, and worth wearing

Five Jackets Built for How Teen Boys Ride

Teen boys riding past the bunny hill and into real terrain need gear that keeps up. We built this collection specifically for that rider: not kids' gear stretched to fit, not adult cuts taken in, built specifically for the bodies and riding styles in between.

The Gage, Fleet, Axel, Ryder, and Mach 15 Jackets each bring a distinct fit and silhouette to the lineup. The Axel runs relaxed for park riders who want room to move. The Gage and Fleet sit closer to a performance profile for skiers who want clean lines at speed. Whatever his style, the sizing accounts for narrower shoulders, longer torsos, and room to layer underneath.

Warmth and Weather Protection That Doesn't Quit

We created this collection to handle all-day exposure, with wind resistance and waterproofing built into every shell. The Mach 15 Jacket is the warmth-forward pick for deep-cold resort days, with synthetic insulation that performs even when conditions get wet.

Across the collection, you'll find practical details that matter on the mountain: helmet-compatible hoods that actually fit over a helmet without choking the collar, lift-pass pockets positioned for quick access at the gate, and adjustable cuffs that seal out snow on a hard fall or a deep powder turn. These are details that actually come up every run, not just on paper.

Style They'll Want to Wear

Style matters on the mountain, and it's a design requirement, not an afterthought. The Gage, Fleet, Axel, and Ryder Jackets each carry distinct colorways and silhouettes so different riders can find something that fits their identity, not just their shoulders.

Obermeyer doesn't ask teens to trade performance for looks. The jacket built for a hard run in mixed conditions is the same one that looks good on the lift.

How to Choose the Right Jacket for Your Rider

If your teen skis cold, exposed resorts and spends full days outside, the Mach 15 Jacket is the right call. If they run warm or prefer to manage warmth through layering, a lighter shell from the Gage or Fleet gives them more room to dial warmth through layers.

Fit is the next decision. The Axel Jacket's relaxed cut works for snowboarders and park skiers who want mobility. The Fleet and Ryder Jackets offer a cleaner profile for skiers who prefer less bulk. If you're on the fence about sizing, going up a size for growth room is usually the right move. Find his fit and grab it before the season starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I look for in teen boys snow jackets? +

Prioritize waterproofing, synthetic insulation, and an articulated fit that allows full range of motion on the mountain. The Obermeyer Gage and Axel Jackets are built with these features scaled specifically for teenage riders.

How warm do snow jackets for teenage boys need to be? +

It depends on where and how he skis, but solid synthetic insulation covers most resort days and handles changing conditions. The Obermeyer Mach 15 Jacket is the right call for high-output cold-weather riding where he needs warmth without overheating.

Are ski jackets for teen boys different from adult ski jackets? +

Yes, teen-specific jackets are cut for narrower shoulders and longer torsos relative to arm length, with enough room to layer underneath without feeling stuffed. The Obermeyer Fleet and Ryder Jackets are proportioned for teen builds rather than being downsized adult styles.

What is the difference between a ski jacket and a snowboard jacket for teens? +

Ski jackets tend toward a fitted, shorter cut optimized for forward-lean posture, while snowboard jackets run longer and looser to allow crouching and absorb falls. The Obermeyer Axel Jacket's relaxed fit crosses over comfortably for both disciplines.
